Volkswagen Group China and Its Joint Ventures to Collectively Donate RMB 120 Million to Combat Coronavirus Outbreak

Volkswagen Group China and two of its joint ventures are putting on a united effort to collectively donate RMB 120 million in support of novel coronavirus(COVID-19)relief work. The donation will go towards securing medical supplies and providing urgently needed aid,such as protective equipment,medical equipment,medicine,and other materials,to hospitals across Hubei Province and other Chinese provinces facing a serious situation. The donation will be made by Volkswagen Group China and its brands,such as Volkswagen,Audi,ŠKODA,Porsche and Bentley,together with its Chinese joint ventures,FAW-Volkswagen and SAIC VOLKSWAGEN.

“The current situation concerns us,and we would like to express our deepest gratitude to the hardworking and determined people on the front line of disaster relief. They have our full commitment and support,” said Dr. Stephan Wöllenstein,CEO of Volkswagen Group China. “For us at Volkswagen Group,China is our second home. In times like these,we must stay together as one and take all necessary measures to assist the Chinese people wherever needed.”

The overall donation will be used to combat the virus throughout mainland China,wherever relevant government authorities deem the need is greatest.

During this challenging period,Dr. Stephan Wöllenstein also made appeal on his social platforms:“Please open your eyes,ears and minds for China. Fight the virus,not the victims!During my 10 years in China,I got to know its kind people. It is simply wrong to blame an entire nation. Whether in good times or difficult ones like now,we are the People’s car company,part of this society and its people’s lives for 40 years. And we are proud of it. Therefore we stand firm alongside our Chinese customers,colleagues and all citizens!”
