A.P. Moller-Maersk Donates Medical Materials with Value over RMB 2 Million and Assists in the Transportation of Relief Supplies to Fight against the Epidemic

After weeks of efforts,A.P. Moller-Maersk’s donated materials towards Hubei province,have been successfully delivered to the corresponding hospitals in Huanggang,Xiangyang and Xiaogan through Hubei Charity Federations and the related organizations. These relief supplies with a total value of more than RMB 2 million(around USD 300,000)include 100,000 medical surgical masks,4,000 sets of medical protective clothing and living supplies,and three ambulances.”

After the outbreak of the coronavirus,A.P. Moller-Maersk,together with its brands,actively take initiatives to provide logistics support to China. A.P. Moller-Maersk,together with its brand Damco Freight Forwarding,actively respond to advocacy from Cainiao,Alibaba’s logistics affiliate to provide free transportation for emergency supplies to Wuhan. Damco collaborates with multiple logistics companies to transport relief materials both home and abroad to the epidemic center. Through its air freight service,Damco successfully delivered the medical materials to the epidemic center in China,from US,UK,Germany,Turkey,Czech Republic,Israel,Indonesia,Japan,Singapore,Malaysia and other countries. As of March 12,it has delivered 83 tons of relief materials including more than 1.3 million masks and 3,000 protective clothes.

Maersk is also providing free air transportation and land-side logistics to support a number of our clients(such as Amazon)and organizations with facilitating the delivery of medical supplies for the affected areas;Maersk trucking team assists different foundations in the transportation of materials,e.g. 330 oxygen generators were transported from Danyang,Jiangsu,to Mengniu Emergency Materials Center of China Charity Federation located in Huangpi District,Wuhan.

In addition,between January 24th,2020 and February 9th,2020,Maersk skips the Import Detention & Demurrage(DnD)calculation for customers in Mainland China,helping customers to mitigate the impact of the coronavirus.

OceanEast,a Maersk’s fully owned warehousing and distribution company,also joins the efforts. From February 1st,OceanEast provides free import customs clearance and relevant warehousing and distribution services for imported international medical materials,assisting customers to fasten the speed of transporting the urgently needed goods.
