Standard Chartered Donated RMB 2.6 Million Supporting the Fight against COVID-19 in China

Standard Chartered China donated RMB 1 million to Shanghai Charity Foundation on 28th January to support its “Special Initiative to support disaster relief of COVID-19”. The fund was used to purchase 50 electrocardiogram monitors to 7 Wuhan hospitals,meeting their urgent needs while fighting against COVID-19.

After the Spring Festival holiday,Standard Chartered launched a global staff fundraising,and raised the total RMB 830000 from employees. Standard Chartered Group also matched US$ 100000(approx. RMB 690000)to the fundraising. By collaborating with Shanghai United Foundation and Shanghai Fosun Foundation,some of the fund was used to support the first-line medical staff in Hubei with protective equipment,and the rest was used to provide post epidemic psychological assistance to Hubei local communities.

Standard Chartered Global Business Service Center also donated RMB 130000 in February to TEDA Charity Association to support the prevention of Coronavirus outbreak.

Standard Chartered donated total RMB 2.63 million yuan to fight the COVID-19 in China.

Since COVID-19’s outbreak,Standard Chartered Bank developed targeted business operation plan and emergency plan with guidance from the government and regulator. The Bank took multiple measures to constantly protect the health and safety of employees and clients,while providing high-quality financial service to our clients.

On 28 January,a Chinese company made an urgent request to purchase resources overseas for fighting against COVID-19. Standard Chartered Bank successfully assisted the client to complete the transaction on the same day,a breakthrough for usual “T+1” trading period,by fully leveraging the Bank’s global network and financial capabilities,and coordinating the resources and multiple teams in Singapore and South Korea.

In addition,Standard Chartered Bank waivered the management fee for donation to specialised COVID-19 prevention account and specialised payment transfer for COVID-19 prevention.
