Since the reform and opening up，because relative scarcity of production elements，natural conditions and the geographical position exist differences，and implement the non-balanced development policy，regional economic development disparities and urban-rural disparities are very outstanding in Guangdong province. Guangdong is China’s reform and opening up the earliest provinces and is also the most economically developed regions. However，in the changing of economic development stage，regional development disequilibrium had deepened the economic development of the contradiction. Area of Pearl River Delta accounts for 30.5% of the whole province but gross domestic product accounts for 79.2% of the whole province.Pearl river delta’ per capita GDP is RMB 77637 yuan，which is three times more than per capita GDP of Eastern region，Western region，Mountainous region. Regional development disequilibrium is obvious. The regional disparities not only had deepened the economic development contradictions，and also bring to the society unstable factors. A few Chinese scholars has carried on the beneficial discussion research，they proposed regional disparities analysis method such as variation indicator466747，Theil indicator466748，Generalized Entropy and Gini coefficient. However，there is lack of a comprehensive quantitative analysis method in existing research results. This paper tries to use functional principal component analysis method to analyze the regional disparities characteristics of evolution from the angle of time and space in the meantime.
