Sample surveys and interviews were conducted with 1673 urban residents and 1893 specific leisure activity-takers（or leisure-makers）at balls，teahouses，cinemas and parks in Chengdu，China between March 2000 and August 2001.Based on those investigations，this paper analyzes the leisure modes，leisure frequency，time consumption，expenditure，leisure motivation and leisure attitude of urban residents and summarizes the characteristics of leisure activities of common urban residents and behavioral differences between involvement of those specific leisure activities.
