Nearly ninety years have elapsed since the first International Youth Hostel（IYH）was developed. However only two years have passed since the first IYH was developed in China. We may ask such questions as：Can this kind of youth hostel develop in China？On what scale can the development take place？How should the hotels be developed？What are the expected results？Presently，all of these problems can be settled only on the phases of concept，without concrete academic researches. The purpose of this paper may be described as follows：to study the driving factors of the International Youth Hostels；to present the development and present conditions of IYH in China；to discuss the differences between domestic and foreign youth hotels；to deal with future development trends，models and operation mechanisms of youth hostel in China.
