Geography Journal，Geography Research，Geography Science，and Natural Resources Journal are the four core authoritative periodicals in China’s geography research. This paper is a full retrospect of the development of tourism geography research published in the four periodicals since the 1980s.It begins with a general introduction and includes descriptions of tourism districts，tourism resources and development，tourist sights，tourist behaviors and tourism market，tourism environment，ecological tourism，theory and methodology research. This study was conducted by means of counting and studying time distribution of the amount of papers published，regional and unit distribution of the authors of papers published and research content methodology. In conclusion，successful experiences in tourism geography research in the four periodicals are described in this paper.
