The Arab world covers a vast territory，extending from the Indian Ocean all the way through the Red Sea and the Mediterranean to the Atlantic，with a total area of 13.13 million square kilometers and total population of about 400 million. It comprises 12 countries in west Asia and 10 countries in Africa. Those countries all have sea gates，providing convenience for seaborne trade. What’s more，a majority of the countries boast extended coastline and rich marine resources and serve as the junction of the Land Silk Road and the Maritime Silk Road. They are also important contributors to construction of China-Arab States Cooperation Forum and Forum on China-Africa Cooperation.

The past six years have seen constant expansion of the bilateral and multilateral relations between China and Arab states with respect to joint construction of the Belt and Road. In 2014，Chinese President Xi Jinping attended the 6^th Ministerial Conference of the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum，and proposed the joint construction of the Belt and Road between China and Arab states，and the “1+2+3” cooperation pattern；2496527 In January 2016，Chinese government issued its first China’s Arab Policy Paper. In the same month，Xi Jinping paid a state visit to Egypt and Saudi Arabia；in July 2018，Xi Jinping attended the 8^th Ministerial Conference of the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum. China and Arab states reached an agreement to upgrade the China-Arab States cooperation-“strategic partnership”. In the same month，Xi Jinping paid a visit to the United Arab Emirates，the first stop of international visit of state head since the 19^th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. This visit played a positive role in promotion of the Belt and Road in the Middle East and China-Arab States economic and trade cooperation.
