在线阅读 收藏

The world maps in Chinese created by Matteo Ricci(1552-1610),a great figure in the history of East-West cultural exchange, not only have played a significant role in Chinese cartography, but also greatly shook the ideology and culture in the period between Ming and Qing(Ch’ing)dynasties. For more than a century,Matteo Ricci’s world maps have attracted wide attention from the international academic circle. Today, scholars in and out of China are studying Matteo Ricci’s maps with great passion and thanks to this devotion new discoveries have constantly been made. This paper centers on a colored panel of Kunyu Wanguo Quantu(also Complete Terrestrial Map of all the Countries)stored in National Library of China(henceforth abbreviated as “the incomplete copy of KYWGQT”),since this copy has never been shown to the public.
