Strategic Thinking of the Current Tourism Development

Since the adoption of the policy of reform and opening up,China’s tourism has achieved a great success,and has made its due contributions to the development of China’s national economy and society. The most remarkable success is that China has developed from a big country with rich tourism resources into a large tourism country in the world,and tourism has become a new growth point of the national economy instead of an important supplement to diplomatic work.

Since the 21st century,remarkable changes have taken place in the situation and tasks of China’s tourism. In a word,tourism is now in the golden development period,the indusial transition period,the strategic upgrade period and the contradiction protruding period. Making China into a strong tourism country in the world as soon as possible and cultivating tourism into an important industry of the national economy,have become the glorious missions and historical tasks bestowed to the tourism industry by the era.

At present,tourism has many remarkable development opportunities. In the 11th Five-Year Plan period,or even longer,tourism will maintain a quick growth tendency. However,due to the restrictions of the system mechanisms accumulated over a long period of time,some deep-level contractions still exist while new problems keep appearing,resulting in the coexistence between development opportunities and the new and the old contradictions,which are intertwined with each other. Only if tourism implements the scientific viewpoint of development in an all-round way and realizes the strategic transition and strategic upgrade possible can it enter a higher development stage. Therefore,we need to pay particular attention to and consider the following issues in terms of the strategic research on the tourism development and macro decision-making.
