中文摘要

在信息社会和知识经济时代,作为信息和知识主要传播载体的传播媒介是否对经济发展产生了影响?这是一个值得探讨的理论问题。发展传播学的研究者做了一些探索,但由于缺乏经济学的理论知识,他们无法将研究深入下去。由于学科视野的局限,发展经济学的研究者对这方面的关注也很少。本书运用规范的经济学理论和方法,对这个问题进行了深入探讨。

本书在传播学相关研究成果的基础上,从“知识传播”这一传播媒介的主要功能入手,分析传播媒介对知识生产以及人力资本的影响机理,构造了包含传播效率变量的增长模型和基于媒介学习的增长模型,在模型求解的基础上提出了传播媒介促进经济增长的两个理论假说。本书利用国内外的相关数据进行了实证检验,并对中国的实践经验进行了讨论。本书使用的分析方法包括:动态优化方法、数据包络分析(DEA)、Tobin模型检验、单位根检验、平行数据(Panel data)模型检验。本书的主要结论如下。

第一,包含传播效率变量的增长模型的平衡路径解显示:传播效率的提高能够提高经济长期增长率,还能使劳动力从产品生产部门向知识生产部门转移。中国数据的实证检验结果发现:传播效率对知识生产效率产生了正向影响,且在统计上是显著的。这个检验结果支持了本书对知识生产方程的改进,也为第一个理论假说提供了较为有力的支持。

第二,基于媒介学习的增长模型的平衡路径解显示:知识媒介的生产效率、质量和外部性,对经济长期增长率产生影响。中国数据的实证检验结果发现:图书、报纸普及率的变化率对全要素生产率的变化率产生正向影响,其中图书变量在统计上多数是显著的;杂志、电视和互联网的检验结果与预期有些矛盾,但也可以做出较为合理的解释。检验结果为第二个理论假说提供了一定程度的支持。

第三,中国在促进传播媒介的变革和普及,以及利用传播媒介提升人力资本方面的经验是比较成功的。中国已成为世界上最大的媒介社会和学习型社会。
