Natural and cultural resources are abundant in China’s border areas. Situated in the border areas，the countryside boasts pristine natural features and integrated cross-cultural characteristics. Hence，rural tourism in this area is unique. It is an important area of rural tourism development. With the continuous promotion of rural revitalization and the Belt and Road Initiative，more and more forms of rural tourism have emerged in border areas，driving the prosperity and development of the local economy and culture，promoting people’s livelihood and employment，and making great contributions to the construction of harmonious border areas. The report defines the scope of rural tourism in the border area，analyzes the characteristics of rural tourism in the border area，takes the development of rural tourism in Lincang city as a typical case，points out the problems in the development process，and puts forward relevant countermeasures and suggestions to promote the development of rural tourism in the border area.
