In 2021,despite the challenges brought by the increasingly complex international environment and the far-reaching impact of COVID-19,in the first half of the year,China’s catering industry experienced the trend of recovery,with the recovery to RMB 4.69 trillion in terms of market size. In the second half of the year,with the repeated outbreak of COVID-19,the catering industry was greatly challenged,with the weakened trend of recovery. Since the fourth quarter of 2021,with the increasingly complicated situation in epidemic containment,the recovery of the catering industry has been gradually weakened. Since 2022,greater impact has been exerted on the catering industry. According to the data of National Bureau of Statistics,from January to April 2022,the catering revenue totaled RMB 1326.2 billion,accounting for 9.6% of the total retail sales of consumer goods,a year-on-year decrease of 5.1%. As COVID-19 continues,greater impact is bound to be exerted on the catering industry. The hope for the survival of the catering industry lies in speeding up the development for transformation. The recovery of the catering industry needs innovative rescue measures,but more importantly,it needs to speed up the transformation development with the help of all sides.
