In 2022,China’s film trade was greatly impacted by the COVID-19,and some new features have emerged in imported films:the recovery trend of imported films was still not as good as that of domestic films, the proportion of imported films at the box office declined, and the box office revenue of imported film declined significantly; The variety of import source countries has decreased, and North American films still maintain absolute advantage; The recovery of Chinese film box office was weak, but it continues to maintain international influence:various film festivals and exhibitions are held domestically, and Chinese film box office is surpassed by North American film box office;Multiple Chinese films have been nominated or won international film awards, and Chinese films have been remade by other countries;Multiple Chinese films have been released internationally through international streaming platforms. In the post pandemic era,China should pay more attention to the role of film trade in enhancing market confidence, and should attract audiences with more open markets and diversified films. At the same time,China has unique national advantages, which are conducive to achieving a double returns of cultural dissemination and cultural trade in the export process of the main theme film.
