In the previous chapter，we overviewed some special factors in Chinese urbanization on the basis of existing urbanization dynamic mechanism theory and reconstructed the dynamic mechanism for Chinese urbanization around the market and the government. In this chapter，we’ll select some indexes reflecting the market mechanism and the government’s behavior in urbanization to construct an index system for evaluating Chinese urbanization dynamic mechanism and make empirical analysis on urbanization，revealing the main dynamics boosting Chinese urbanization and analyzing the effectiveness of the government’s behavior in urbanization.

Section Ⅰ Construction of Chinese Urbanization Dynamic Mechanism Index System

No existing referential research result about urbanization dynamic mechanism index system has been found in available Chinese and foreign documents. However，there are some documents available for providing inspirations. The author reconstructs urbanization dynamic mechanism on two dimensions，namely the market and the government. It is associated with the market-orientation level of macro economy. Authoritative international evaluation system^[1] for free level of economy，well recognized the Chinese market-orientation index made by Fan Gang and Wang Xiaolu（2001），research results on the Chinese market economy development level made by Economy and Resource Management Institute of Beijing Normal University（2005），and treatise on city’s competitiveness evaluation system written by Ni Pengfei（2003）are used as reference in constructing the index system.
